The gear allows Heritage’s 150 employes doctors to electronically transmit prescriptionsz and access patient medical recordsx from laptops and handheld reducing errors and streamlining The industry average for buying electronic medical recordr systemsis $10,000 per doctor, although the exact amount of the Heritagr Valley contract was not available. Previously, Heritage Valley received a $661,500 grant throughj health insurance giant to help pay forthe upgrade.
In additiojn to two hospitals, Heritage Valle has two surgery centers, two cancere treatment centers and a numberof community-based diagnosticv and treatment facilities to treat patients from Allegheny, Butler and Lawrence counties, and partw of West Virginia and Ohio. Allscriptzs began helping Heritage developp its electronic recordkeeping systemin 2006. “As an integrated deliverhy network, we’re relying on the Allscripts solutiomn to help us create a single electronic patieny record that will drive greatet integration and improvement incare delivery,” Heritagee President and CEO Norm Mitry said in a prepareds statement.
