The listing includes 350,000 square feet on floors six througb 10 abovethe Macy’s store on Nicolle t Mall, being marketed by Jim Damiani and Brya n Beltrand at Welsh Cos. for Macy’s Inc. The Macy’s once home to Dayton-Hudson Corp., was largely emptiedf last fallwhen Cincinnati-based Macy’s cut abou t 1,000 jobs in Minnesota. The Macy’sa space enjoys a prime location — Welsh’ss Damiani termed it a “main-and-main” However, it is an older building with some accessibility issuee forthe office-space users. Damiani declined to say if Macy’s planned to invest any moneyg for renovations prior tolanding tenants. A Macy’z spokeswoman declined to comment. The spacse available for lease is on floors sixthrough 10, except for an eighth-floor auditorium that Macy’sa plans to keep for its annual holidah display. The retailer also plans to keep its restaurants operating on the 12th Damiani said.
Damiani acknowledged that the space has drawbacks for Hesaid he’s “really that the space will lease quickly, as Macy’ds plans to seek out price-conscious, back-office -type users. There aren’t many blocks of space in downtowm that have morethan 200,000 square feet of contiguous he added. Damiani said Macy’d would prefer to lease the entire space to one or more large but it is willing to cut up the spacre to accommodatesmaller ones.
